Book Review (& Give Away!): ‘Book Yourself Solid’ by Michael Port

by Ann Mackey of Adit Marketing, Bizwize’s marketing consultant.

Love your work but dread marketing yourself?

You are not alone.

Even as a marketing professional, I feel daunted by the idea of pitching my services to potential clients. I found Micheal Port’s book “Book Yourself Solid” helped my confidence in promoting myself, by providing a system to work through, along with some great ideas.

The book is an enjoyable read, full of ideas and also a workbook to really focus you on identifying your ideal clients, determine what their most urgent needs and compelling desires are, and figure out ways to communicate with them and get them to engage your services.

Book Yourself Solid has been one of the most popular marketing books in the world for service-based businesses since its initial release in 2006. This is not a magic get-quick-results book, as it requires a lot of your own input to get the best for your individual situation.  Marketing is more than about selling your skills: reputation and how people perceive you has a lot to do with your success in a service business, so if you are a service professional looking for more clients, I would highly recommend reading this book.
