Saba Rose Button was a perfectly healthy baby, happy and social, meeting all the relevant milestones for her age group. However, at the age of 11 months, tragedy struck when a routine flu vaccination changed her life forever. Saba suffered severe brain damage and multi-organ failure. As a result, she has since been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, quadriplegia, epilepsy and respiratory weakness.
Saba began a busy rehabilitation schedule of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy and more, after just 11 days in ICU. These therapies have continued in the years following, with additional therapies including hydrotherapy, massage therapy, psychotherapy. This intensive rehabilitation will continue for the rest of Saba’s life.

Sadly, there are many children whose lives are affected by some sort of disability and who rely heavily on rehabilitation services. These services are often accompanied with a hefty price, putting an extra burden on already strained families. Thus, the Saba Rose Button Foundation was born!
The Saba Rose Button Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to raising funds to help children with special needs and their families. All funds raised go towards payment of intensive blocks of rehabilitation therapies for children to participate in, specialised equipment, parental respite, and extra care services in the family home.

RehabME is an initiative of The Saba Rose Button Foundation, which allows for sponsorship of special needs children giving them access to specialised equipment and care, and the intensive rehabilitation they so require. It was announced recently that RehabME is set to open the doors to a brand-new centre in Nedlands, Perth.

The centre will be that of a paediatric rehabilitation premise, which has been a dream of the Saba Rose Button Foundation and RehabME team for some time. According to their latest announcement on their social media channels, the new RehabME centre will be “A ‘collective’ of excellence, bringing together a multi-disciplinary team of quality therapists together with the latest in technology”. This is huge news and will be life changing for many special needs children and their families.
